As I said before, the greenhouse gases are the most dangerous one that lead to the global warming. One of these gases is carbon dioxide (CO2). Every one can do something to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that he or she produces by following very simple steps. These steps reduce the carbon dioxide emissions and even the global warming problems. The first thing that the individual here in UAE, especially from March to October, can do is to adjust the water heater in the bathrooms from 60°C to 49°C. This will prevent the burns and save about 217 kg of carbon dioxide. This is very usable way in the UAE because of the hot weather during a long period of the year. Other way is useful also here in UAE is to unplug the power strips when they are not in use. When you shut down and unplug the devices when they are not in use, you will save about 567 kg of carbon dioxide (CO2). One important point to the housemaids when they wash the clothes, usually wash the clothes by using the cold water instead of hot water. This will save around 228 kg of carbon dioxide per year. In addition, every person here in UAE can plant a tree in his house to save a huge amount of carbon dioxide, around 22,680 kg. The trees reduce carbon dioxide by absorbing it from the atmosphere in order to produce the oxygen instead. This way took a place in our home in addition of using the compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of incandescent light bulbs. The last way will save about 136 kg of carbon dioxide. There are a lot of ways which are easy for every individual and don’t cost a lot. Of course there are some of them that don’t suit to the people here in the UAE. Reducing the use of air conditioners will reduce the carbon dioxide, yet on the other hand, it will kill people here by the burning, hot weather. The link below shows the ways of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide:

I hope every one chose even one of them and try to help the earth.

The link below which is from the UAE government site shows the environmental issues in the UAE, and how UAE copes with them.

http://www.uae.gov.ae/Government/environment.htm#ENVIRONMENTAL%20ISSUES
United Arab Emirates is one of the countries that face the bad effects of the global warming such as the raising of the sea level and the air polluted with the greenhouse gases. Form the link above, we can see how much the UAE works to limit the dangers of the global warming. There is a subtitle in the site which is called “ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES”, and within the paragraph below it, there are some actions that the UAE did to reduce the amount of the greenhouse gases in the air. For example, the UAE banned about 57 chemical insecticides in order to protect the health of the public and reduce the bad impacts of the global warming in the environment. You can also see other subtitle that shows the way of dealing with the waste in the UAE.

On the other hand, I was really surprised by the results of survey that is done by the multinational consumer research group. The UAE population is the least aware of the issue of the global warming in the world. The link below shows that:

http://www.arabenvironment.net/archive/2007/3/182908.html

I was surprised because the United Arab Emirates is one of the countries that signed the Kyoto protocol that insists the countries which singed to reduce the dangerous gases from the air. In addition of that, there are a lot of actions that the individuals do to achieve the healthy, clean air and environment.

In my next post, I will write about the individual actions in the UAE to reduce the effects of the Global warming.

In this article, I will mention one effect from the global warming effects which is the melting of ice in Antarctica. As I said before, melting of ice is one of the global warming effects which is caused by the increasing of the earth temperature in order of the greenhouse gases. It is known that there are certain temperatures that the ice is kept as it is within them. But the increasing of the temperature in the earth makes the differences and leads the melting of ice. There is over 13000 square kilometers of the ice has been melt over the last 50 years in the Antarctica. In addition of that, scientists said that within the next 63 years, the Antarctica will disappear. They discovered that the thick of the ice there nowadays is half of its thickness thirty years ago. One of the effects that occur because of this melting is the raising of sea level. A lot of islands such as Tuvalu, Kiribati and the Marshall islands are at the risk of being under the water because of the global warming. A lot of nations will disappear beneath the sea water in the next decades if the sea level is increasing. In addition of that, the risk is also faces the living animals in the Antarctica itself. The polar bear is one of these animals which lives in the glaciers and it is currently wiped out by the melting of ice. Other important thing is that the area of ice there is responsible of reflecting a huge percentage of heat from the sun back into the space. It will be other problem if this area is melted. There will be other reason for increasing the temperature of the earth. It is important to make the decisions and actions to stop the global warming.

Effects of Global Warming

Hello everybody, as I mentioned before, global warming is the most important problem that faces the humanity in these decades. There are a lot of reasons that lead to this problem. In addition, this problem affects all aspects of live in the earth, which is why there are a lot of effects of the global warming. I can divide these effects into two main effects. The first effect is increasing the temperature of the earth every year. The second effect is raising the sea level. The first one is the most dangerous one because actually it leads to the other effects. When the temperature of the earth increases because the greenhouse gases as I said in my last post, the situation in which melting of ice in the earth will occur leading to the raising sea level. In addition, the diversity will happen because the changes of the conditions in the earth. A lot of organisms have specific conditions to live within them, and by these changes, the diversity will occur. A lot of islands will go under the water if the sea level is increasing, and therefore, a lot of communities and societies will vanish. I hope all people help to limit these effects. In my next post, I will mention in details the meting of ice and what it causes to the all aspects of living there.

Greenhouse Gases

In this article, I will write about the greenhouse gases which are the most dangerous causes for the global warming. Greenhouse gases might be produced from the man-made activities and from the natural phenomenon. Carbon dioxide, ozone, water vapor, monoxide and methane are examples for greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are considered to be one of the main causes of the global warming because their effects on the rising of the earth temperature. They work as a mirror and reflect the sun radiation back to the earth. As a result, when there is high concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, there is a high percentage of heat energy being reflected.

According to the image below:

 global-carbon-emission.png

The percentage of carbon in air is increasing rapidly. This will

automatically affect the earth and the ecosphere.

In addition, the pie charts below show that the most greenhouse

gases are produced by human activities.

greenhouse-gas-by-sector.png

Many people think that the increasing of greenhouse gases doesn’t affect
the life in the earth. They don’t even care about that. Yet actually, when
the temperature of the earth is rapidly increasing, the ice melting into
the two spots will affect the life of the animals there. It will also increase
the sea level which in fact affects the life in some islands in the ocean.
These islands are completely now under the water. This is a big
problem which affects all the kinds of organism in the world. I will write
about the effects later, but I mention some of them to tell the one who
don’t care that there are people like you suffer from global warming
which you are one of the people who cause it.

Causes of Global Warming

As I said before in my last post, global warming is affected all the organisms in the earth. Even the earth itself is affected. It consists of climate change, pollution, and diversity, lack of resources, ice melting and distribution of diseases. There are of course a lot of causes that help to create this problem of global warming. These causes could be split into two different groups. The first one is called the natural causes and the second one is called the man-made causes. One example for natural causes is releasing of methane gas from arctic tundra and wetlands. Methane gas is one of the greenhouse gases that increased rapidly during these decades because of the global warming. They affect the atmosphere of the globe and reduce the amount of useful gases that keeps our lives. Other group is called as I said man-made causes and this is the main important causes of the global warming. People activities produce a lot of dangerous gases such as carbon dioxide and monoxide by burning the fuels. They are also polluted the land of the earth and the large area of the water by discarding the trash and dangerous waste from the factories and petroleum fields. In the next post, I will explain the greenhouse gases from both natural and man-made causes.

I will immediately write a little bit about the global warmings and the definition of it. A global warming is one of the most dangerous problems that face the humanity and the whole world. Global warming is the name that is given to all the environmental problems that cause a lot of damage on the earth and the ecosphere around it. It contains the air pollution, sand pollution, water pollution, ice melting, diversity, loss of food and water, loss of energy and even the loss of land that we live on it. Many people think that caring and thinking about global warmings in these times is not necessary and it wastes the time because of such a silly idea in their minds. They think that it is too early to think about it. They don’t even know that they are the main reason for global warmings. One day, they will find themselves in a close circle of the environmental problems that they can’t escape from it. Don’t be upset, there are some people that have feelings and care about the earth and the pollution on it. If we all help each other, we will be able to save the humanity and the whole world form the global warmings.
